Product Design for Business-to-Business Brands
For commercial and industrial products, the purchaser, owner and user are normally separated. This makes for complex, and often contradictory, stakeholder relationships, spanning purchase, installation, usage, maintenance and disposal.

User research allows us to explore and understand these complex stakeholder interactions. From the insights gained we are able to balance and prioritise ease of use against, for example, ease of installation and ease of maintenance.

Separation of ownership and usage often results in harsh treatment of these products. Despite this, they will be expected to function consistently and reliably. In safety critical situations this is not just a matter of convenience or commercial necessity. It becomes a matter of life or death.

Beyond such practical considerations your product’s visual language must be appropriate to its function and its environment, as well as projecting your brand values in a clear and distinctive manner, particularly when it forms part of a unified product range.
